2022 Subaru Legacy VS 2022 Toyota Corolla: Exterior & Interior Design

We'll start by looking at the design of the 2022 Legacy and 2022 Corolla. On the outside, both models come standard with LED headlights and daytime running lights, but only with the Subaru Legacy do you also get steering responsive headlights standard. Similar headlights are available on the Toyota Corolla, but only as an additional option for top-of-the-line models. The new midsize sedan from Subaru also comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels compared to the 15-inch steel wheels that the Toyota Corolla starts out with. Aside from the additional standard features on the outside of the new Subaru Legacy, you'll find even greater distinctions inside.

Once behind the wheel of these popular cars, you'll find that the new Subaru Legacy offers much more passenger space with up to 105.5 cubic feet of space compared to just 88.6 cubic feet for passengers in the Toyota Corolla. Everyone also has more room for gear inside the Subaru Legacy thanks to a 15.1 cubic-foot trunk. The Toyota Corolla only has a 13.1 cubic-foot trunk. While the extra space in the new Subaru Legacy is probably worth the slightly higher price tag, it's just the beginning. Standard features like keyless entry, illuminated visors, and headlight-linked wipers are all examples of features that cost more as upgrades in the latest Toyota Corolla.

2022 Subaru Legacy VS 2022 Toyota Corolla: Performance

Performance is one more area where the 2022 Legacy separates itself from the 2022 Corolla. The standard engine for the Subaru Legacy is a 2.5-liter, flat SUBARU BOXER engine with a solid output of 182 horsepower and 176 lb/ft of torque. The standard engine of the 2022 Corolla, a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder, simply can't keep up with its 139 horsepower and 126 lb/ft of torque. Even if you upgraded the Toyota Corolla engine, the best you can get is 169 horsepower and 151 lb/ft of torque. The available engine of the Subaru Legacy, however, ups the performance even more with 260 horsepower and 277 lb/ft of torque. And, as if that weren't enough, the 2022 Legacy comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for even better control and capability while the 2022 Corolla is exclusively a front-wheel drive sedan on all of its trims. In both models you'll get adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, pre-collision braking, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. One feature that the 2022 Corolla doesn't offer is a distraction management system, available on higher trims of the 2022 Legacy, which is a state-of-the-art system that uses sensors to determine if you could be drowsy or distracted and warn you. According to Subaru, over 1,000 drivers are injured from accidents caused by a distracted driver.
