Inside, both sedan models have comfortable interiors, but the Subaru Legacy has noticeably more passenger volume -- 105.5 to the 100.4 cubic feet of the Toyota Camry. Both models also feature standard 60/40-split flat-folding rear seatbacks for added versatility and available heated steering wheels, but only the 2022 Legacy has available Nappa leather seats for a higher level of comfort and luxury.

The 2022 Legacy and Camry each come with a bevy of technology features standard. They both come with a 7-inch high-resolution LCD touchscreen multimedia system. Each sedan also comes with infotainment features like Apple CarPlay™ & Android Auto™ for seamless smartphone integration, Bluetooth® technology for audio streaming and phone connectivity, and USB ports for media import and charging. Both models even include free trials for SiriusXM Satellite Radio to get all your favorite music channels for free. However, all but the entry-level 2022 Subaru Legacy features a premium 11.6-inch touchscreen which is a bit easier to use than the available 9-inch screen from the new Toyota Camry.

2022 Subaru Legacy VS 2022 Toyota Camry: Performance

When it comes to performance, both the 2022 Legacy and 2022 Camry are great options at an affordable price. The Subaru Legacy starts out with a standard 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER 4-cylinder engine with an output of 182 horsepower and 176 lb/ft of torque. The Toyota Camry comes standard with a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder with an output of 203 horsepower and 184 lb/ft of torque. But, only the 2022 Legacy comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel drive on all of its trim models, the only midsize car to offer such capability standard. You can get all-wheel drive on the entry-level trim of the 2022 Camry, but that does cost extra.

2022 Subaru Legacy VS 2022 Toyota Camry: Safety

Safety is a category for which both the new Legacy and Camry are considered the best of the best. Both midsize sedans earned five-star overall safety scores from the NHTSA after extensive crash-testing, the best score possible overall. The 2022 Legacy and Camry also have their own suite of driver assist technologies: Subaru EyeSight® for the Legacy and Toyota Safety Sense™ for the Camry. In the Subaru Legacy features include adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane departure warning and sway warning, and lane keep assist functions. Toyota Safety Sense, comes standard with a pre-collision system, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, road sign assist, lane tracing assist, and dynamic radar cruise control. The 2022 Legacy also comes standard with high beam assist, although it's not part of EyeSight®. One safety technology exclusive to the Subaru Legacy is the available DriverFocus™ Distraction Mitigation System, which helps detect distracted or drowsy driving and warns the driver of unsafe driving.
