Servicing Your Subaru Is Made Easy By McKenna Subaru

Once you purchase a Subaru you have to take care of it. Wear and tear as well as the elements can affect how your car runs and how well it operates. Not performing routine maintenance on your vehicle can result in a more expensive repair or even an unfortunate accident.

What needs to be serviced?

There are an abundance of suggested servicing items, but the most important ones are:

  • Oil Changes - As you drive, your oil is lubricating moving parts, regulating temperatures, and getting rid of any debris. This makes the oil thin and dirty and it should be replaced after a certain amount of time or miles. These miles all depend on the make, model, and year of your vehicle, so be sure to research what your suggested amount is.
  • Tire Rotations and Repair - Your tires are perhaps the most important part of your vehicle. You should have your tires rotated at every oil change so that they wear evenly and, if your tires are too worn you should replace them. < /li>
  • Brake Service - Whenever you get your tires rotated you should have your brakes inspected. There isn't a suggested servicing time-line for brakes, because they wear based on how you drive, but it is still a good idea to get them checked out when you can. If you experience any squeaking, odd smells, or a "spongy" feeling when you apply the brakes, schedule a service appointment as soon as you can. These are all signs of your brakes needing to be repaired.
  • Dashboard Warning/Check Engine Light - If a warning light appears you should schedule a service appointment as soon as you possibly can. It may be something simple, like an O2 sensor needs to be replaced, or it could be something more serious that could potentially be dangerous.
